A brief history of the Omega brand

Omega is a Swiss luxury watch brand founded in 1848 by Louis Brandt in La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland. Initially operating as a small workshop assembling pocket watches, the company adopted the name Omega in 1903, inspired by its revolutionary “Omega” caliber, which symbolized perfection in watchmaking.

In more recent times, Omega has been establishing itself as a leader in precision and innovation. The brand gained fame for its role as the official timekeeper of the Olympic Games, a title it has held since 1932. Omega also made history in 1969 when its Speedmaster Professional became the first watch worn on the moon during NASA’s Apollo 11 mission. The Moonwatch is still one of their most popular models.

Omega’s dedication to quality and reliability has earned it partnerships with James Bond films, as well as numerous records in precision timekeeping. In 1998 Omega was acquired by the Swatch Group. Don’t be fooled by the name though, because Omega continues to produce iconic collections like the Seamaster, Speedmaster, and Constellation, combining timeless design with cutting-edge technology.
